These vintage stools were a status symbol for the elders of the Tonga people. Hand carved from a single block of wood by the nomadic tribe from Zimbabwe.
Each stool was uniquely designed to display different shapes, and patterns, because they had to be breathtaking to behold. They also served a function as a seat for general meetings and for rest. The handle had to be incorporated into the design to make them easy to transport.
This exceptional stool weaves together a story about the owner and their position in the wider Tonga community. The Tonga culture is of particular importance because still today they have not lost their indigence governance.
This stool is old and has minor signs of wear. Ideal for use as place to rest your feet or your coffee cup book beside a comfy armchair.
