A fine example of rural Scandinavian folk art history from the early 19th Century. This beautiful sliding box is decorated in original kurbits or rosmålning style painting.
The folk art painted box is in a stunning faded deep earth red. The naive painting is in light brush strokes depicting patterns and flowers with the date "1829" and initials "AOD".
The sliding box known as a "timplåda"was a used as drawer to store items such as candles, personal artefacts and possibly clothes.
With almost 200 years of use, this box is in great condition with signs of wear that add to its character and history.
